In order to get anything done, sometimes you have to make assumptions. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, and most of the time streamlines your work.
The assumptions I made were as follows: using lines to find the shape of a district is an accurate representation of how misshapen it is, the difference between the democratic vote and the republican vote shows whether or not it's disproportionate, and using data from the 2016 election will give the most accurate results for the amount of gerrymandering in a region. However, using data from the 2012 election is fine too.
